NuWave OxyPure 47001 Air Purifier: Trusted Review & Specs

The NuWave OxyPure 47001 breaks the cycle of using permanent, washable air filters from the Zero line, especially the newest NuWave OxyPure Zero E2000. It is the simple air purifier using HEPA system, and because the air purifier isn’t certified by AHAM, many people will need a proper NuWave OxyPure 47001 review to see whether it’s worth the money, or should you turn back to the special Zero machines?

NuWave OxyPure 47001 ranks A- in our air purifier ranking list. We give the biggest and most thorough database of air purifier reviews in the world.

Nuwave is an American home appliance brand founded in 1993 as IBC-Hearthware, Inc. The company is famous for its Zero line – with only air purifiers using permanent, washable air filters. The NuWave OxyPure 47001 review introduces its flagship air purifier using real HEPA filter instead.

Other NuWave’s Air Purifier Reviews:

NuWave OxyPure 47001 Price

The NuWave OxyPure 47001 is very similar to the NuWave OxyPure Zero E2000‘s design, to the point that you can mistake one air purifier with another. The OxyPure 47001 model will use a Carbon/HEPA filter instead of the signature Bio-Guard filter, which is certified for its high efficiency.

That means for the price, the NuWave OxyPure 47001 will be close to the Zero E2000 than the previous NuWave OxyPure Zero E1000. Actually, the NuWave OxyPure 47001 is a little bit more pricier at $699, and we can only blame the real HEPA filter for that difference.

However, you can check our Breathe Quality deal, to reduce the price of the NuWave OxyPure 47001 to only $539, which is 23% off the original price. It is the model 47005, which is the current model number of the first NuWave OxyPure 47001.

At this price point, the NuWave OxyPure 47001 is still more expensive than the Blue Signature Large, Coway Airmega 450 and Levoit EverestAir. Remember that these air purifiers have high performance and better warranty period than our today air purifier.

NuWave OxyPure 47001 Design and Size

If you feel like permanent filter is just marketing fluff, you can go the usual HEPA way with the NuWave OxyPure 47001. It is based on the NuWave OxyPure Zero E2000 with the exact style, design and dimensions. You can expect a bulky air purifier at 26.25 inches in height and 14.2 inches in width, and you should appreciate the casters to help you move this air purifier around.

A NuWave air purifier in stainless steel font – that’s the shorthand I keep coming back to with the new NuWave OxyPure flagship design language. The size and feel of the NuWave OxyPure 47001 immediately reminds me that this is a full stainless-steel air purifier. However, it isn’t, as it is only 28 lbs and the lighter weight makes it easier to move around.

NuWave also decides to select a few more color options for the new NuWave OxyPure 47001, for example the model 47013 with the new white color.

NuWave OxyPure 47001 review

Other than that, the air purifier uses the same bottom-to-top airflow system concept, same air outlet, same control panel as the NuWave OxyPure Zero E2000. To guarantee that you’re buying a version of the NuWave OxyPure 47001, we recommend buying the model 47013.

NuWave OxyPure 47001 Filters

We check the performance of one air purifiers based on its air filters’ quality and material, as well as the number of air filter types in the testing device. The NuWave OxyPure 47001 will come back to the usual HEPA filtration.

  1. Pre-filter – The stainless steel pre-filter can capture larger contaminates like dust, hair and lint.
  2. Bio-Guard filter – The exclusive Bio-Guard filter that is rated to capture pollutants as small as 0.01 microns.
  3. Ozone-removal filter – Mainly for stripping ozone from other electrostatic Bio-Guard’s stages.
  4. Carbon/HEPA filter – A combination of both True HEPA filter and Activated Carbon filter, to both capture 99.97% of all particles down to 0.3 microns, and adsorb odors, smoke and chemicals.

The main difference between the NuWave OxyPure 47001 and the NuWave OxyPure Zero E2000 is the replacement of the new Carbon/HEPA filter, and remove the previous Bio-Guard filter. This way can help reduce the ozone generated by the ionizer and remove odors and smoke more easily.

I did a standard test for the NuWave OxyPure 47003, which is another variant of the model 47001, in the same conditions as the AirDoctor AD4000, Alen BreatheSmart 75i and Rabbit Air A3. The NuWave OxyPure 47003 is certainly the most powerful, with the highest fan power.

NuWave OxyPure 47001 review

However, unlike the Zero E2000, you need to buy filter replacement for the NuWave OxyPure 47001. You can buy a set of 2 packs at only $40, and it can last at least 1 year. At this price point, the annual filter cost of the NuWave OxyPure 47001 is really good.

NuWave OxyPure 47001 Room Coverage

The NuWave OxyPure 47001 is recommended up to 2,934 square feet by the manufacturer, though we believe it is quite much for its performance. NuWave also gives the correct number, to use the air purifier in 586 square feet for 5X ACH.

The ACH of the NuWave OxyPure 47001 is 5X. If you’re going to use the air purifier in the manufacturer’s suggested room size, the NuWave OxyPure 47001 only exchanges 1 time per hour.

The CADR of the NuWave OxyPure 47001 is 391 cfm in general. It is less than the NuWave OxyPure Zero E2000 despite using the same fan, mostly because of the high density in the new Carbon/HEPA filter. However, the current CADR of the NuWave OxyPure 47001 is still very good for its price point.

NuWave OxyPure 47001 Sound

With the new Carbon/HEPA filter, it seems the NuWave OxyPure 47001 can’t keep the lowest noise level as good as the NuWave OxyPure Zero E2000. We measured the noise level to be 31 decibels (dB), which is still quiet, but not as good as the Zero E2000.

On it highest speed, the noise level is 64 decibels, so you should make sure to run the air purifier on Auto Mode, to reduce the noise level for using higher fan speed.

NuWave OxyPure 47001 Power Consumption

As one of the most criteria when deciding to buy an air purifier, one of our most FAQs is “Do air purifiers use a lot of energy?”. In fact, an air purifier needs to run for a long time (usually more than 8 hours) to be efficient.

The NuWave OxyPure 47001 has a higher power wattage than the NuWave OxyPure Zero E2000, at 125 watts. That’s why it isn’t listed in Energy Star database, unlike others in the Zero line.

If you’re going to run the NuWave OxyPure 47001 at least 8 hours per day, the annual cost will be $54.79.

NuWave OxyPure 47001 Additional Features

The NuWave OxyPure 47001 is also a flagship of the brand, just like the NuWave OxyPure Zero E2000, so it will pack every additional feature like its sibling. You will have the Wi-Fi capability via a smartphone app, to remotely control the air purifier.

You will also have the Smart Sensor, which is quite accurate and reacts as soon as it detects the slightest change in indoor air quality. You just need to turn on the NuWave OxyPure 47001, and the rest depends on the machine.

Finally, we still have the Timer setting, as well as the LED indicator for filter replacement.

Our verdict

The NuWave OxyPure 47001 brings back the familiar HEPA filter, but at the cost of $100 higher than the NuWave OxyPure Zero E2000, and no better ranking? Perhaps we should come back to the Zero flagship instead.
