TruSens Z-3000 Price

On paper, the TruSens Z-3000 is a solid air purifier with a very keen price tag. You’d be hard pressed to find a cheaper device with remote air sensor, the sleek and signature design and exclusive DuPont air filter.

TruSens isn’t an anonymous air purifier brand. In fact, the group belongs to the ACCO Brands Corporation – a big brand in the North America for home appliances with more than 6000 employees. Normally, we will expect a lot from the flagship of such a huge brand, especially when it is only in the mid-range segment.

The TruSens Z-3000 is now available on the market with the official price of $399, but you can find a great discount on Breathe Quality. It costs us only $100 more than the previous TruSens Z-2000, but it upgrades everything to be better than the middle air purifier in family.

The device also looks like a serious competitor to the Winix NK105 and Dyson Pure Cool Link. You can also look for the Levoit LV-H134 and Dyson Pure Cool Tower for even larger room coverage, but they all don’t have the remote air sensor just like our today unit.

TruSens Z-3000 Design and Size

No real surprise here; the TruSens Z-3000 sticks to the tried and trusted design, started with the first TruSens Z-1000. It looks like a bigger TruSens Z-2000, with dimensions of 29 inches in height and 10 inches in width. Such size makes the air purifier even bigger than the popular GermGuardian AC9400W.

Not much evolution from a design perspective of the previous model, but the TruSens Z-3000 is still an unique and signature device in the world of air purifiers. Using the main white color, the device looks beautiful with a diagonal top and cylindrical body. This design is also awarded by Reddot, as it can improve the performance of the TruSens Z-3000.

This air purifier utilizes the traditional bottom-to-top air flow system concept. The 360° air inlet can maximize the use of DuPont air filter, to capture more pollutants in the process. On top, the PureDirect technology is applied, for a 70/30 split to distribute two separate air flow streams. The result, the design has been proven to be up to 24% more efficient in delivering air more effectively.

The flagship of TruSens also comes with an axial-centrifugal fan, to deliver optimal suction and straight the air for more focused air streams. That’s why the TruSens Z-3000 doesn’t need lots of fan power to cover a large room, up to 750 square feet.

Still, we have a pretty air quality indicator at the center of the top air outlet. The control panel is using simple touch buttons, which is easy to keep clean. However, you should be careful not to rub the buttons too hard, or you can wipe out the buttons easily.

The TruSens Z-3000 is very light to use, with the weight of 12.6 lbs. Thanks to the signature handle, you can move it easily.

TruSens Z-3000 Filters

To decide the performance of one air purifier, normally we will check the quality and quantity of the air filters, as well as the air filter types being used. As the flagship of TruSens family, the TruSens Z-3000 runs the top-notch 4-stage air cleaning system, with a valuable upgrade in the core.

The DuPont air filter technology in TruSens Z-3000 has been upgraded to the core of True HEPA filter. Now, the flagship can trap nearly all airborne contaminants like dust, dust mites, pet dander, mold spores and fungi. Together with the UV-C light sterilization, it could render the viruses, bacteria and protozoa from reproducing and infecting in the surface of the filter.

Again, we have another TruSens air purifier with the California Air Resources Board (CARB) certification, with the highest standards of safety.

With the new addition of TruSens new inhouse air filters, most notably the Allergy & Flu filter, the TruSens Z-3000 has better performance. In the same test as the previous one we made for this air purifier, TruSens Z-3000 can clean 99.95% of all particles down to 0.3 microns. It is now the same performance as the Vornado PCO575DC and Oransi mod Jr.

If you want to replace the filter, you should look for the new HEPA drum filter (AFHZ3000-01). It costs a bit more at $59, but the air filter can last 12 to 15 months.

TruSens Z-3000 Room Coverage

The TruSens Z-3000 has the suggested room coverage up to 1425 square feet, according to the manufacturer. It is nearly double the room coverage from the previous TruSens Z-2000, but I don’t think you should use this air purifier in such large room for quick cleaning. Instead, you should look for its AHAM certification, which is only recommended for 300 square feet.

The ACH of TruSens Z-3000 is 2X to 4X. TruSens mentions that the suggested room coverage of 750 square feet is only for 2X ACH, meaning the device will clean only 2 times per hour.

The CADR of TruSens Z-3000 is 200 Dust/ 191 Smoke/ 208 Pollen (cfm). The fan power is at least double from the predecessor, and the TruSens Z-3000 has all the power it needs to clean any large rooms.

TruSens Z-3000 Sound

When it comes to the sound rating of air purifier, TruSens isn’t really a good device to recommend. The TruSens Z-3000, with much higher fan power, is a lot noisy to use. The highest noise level is 66 decibels at maximum, and it is really noisy for anyone to sleep with.

On lowest speed, TruSens Z-3000 keeps at whisper-quiet operation, with the noise level at 32 decibels (db). You should keep this mode if you plan to run the TruSens Z-3000 in bedroom.

TruSens Z-3000 Power Consumption

One of our most FAQs is “Do air purifiers use a lot of energy?” In fact, air purifier must be used for a long time to be efficient. And power consumption is one important criteria to review if this air purifier is good or not.

The power consumption of TruSens Z-3000 is obviously higher than any predecessors, because it has at least double the fan power. On average, the rated power is 68 watts, but the TruSens Z-3000 is still an Energy Star air purifier.

If you run the TruSens Z-3000 for 8 hours per day, it would cost you $24 each year.

TruSens Z-3000 Additional Features

The TruSens Z-3000 continues to use the signature SensorPod, a remote air sensor that can measure the air quality index anywhere in your room. The SensorPod can take accurate air quality measurements within 49 feet, then it will inform you quickly through the air quality monitor.

Moreover, the TruSens Z-3000 runs with an Auto Mode, to adapt and change the fan automatically based on the environment’s needs. It is highly accurate, thanks to the high-end technology inside the SensorPod.

Just like the TruSens Z-2000, our today unit has a Night Mode option, to dim all the lights and keep the fan power as low as possible. It can negate the noise from the highest speed, and you can sleep well with the TruSens Z-3000.

This air purifier also comes with a built-in Timer, to schedule the time off after 2, 4, 8 or 12 hours. You also has LED indicator for filter replacement, so you know when you need the new air filter.

It is superseded by the TruSens Z-3500, which has better smart features.

Our verdict

For a little up more than TruSens Z-2000, the TruSens Z-3000 is worth for the money, thanks to the advanced True HEPA filter and huge improvements in fan power. The device is recommended to use, especially when you need an accurate method to check the indoor air quality index, as the SensorPod is probably the most accurate air sensor in the world.

However, with the release of the new TruSens Z-3500, if you truly want the fullest of TruSens’ smart features, you should go for the newer air purifier.
