Airthereal AGH380 Price

With a sleek design, a decent CADR rating and a near-mid-range level of performance from its fan power, the Airthereal AGH380 is just the start of the new lineup from Airthereal. It’s an extremely well balanced device, with few of the glaring compromises that usually accompany such an affordable air purifier, though it faces a stiff challenge from its competitors.

As I said, this is just a start. The Airthereal AGH380 will be the cheapest offer from the “Glory Days” lineup. It is just $199 at the time of writing, putting it firmly in the low-range segment. This also places the air purifier into direct competition with the new Levoit Core 400S, the Coway AP-1512HH and Bissell air220. Moreover, I will put it in a competition with the old InvisiClean Claro and TruSens Z-2000 to see if the Airthereal AGH380 can be the best air purifier for viruses.

Airthereal has confused even us with the announcement of many new air purifiers, yet we can get our hand on only the Airthereal AGH380 recently. We would like to wait for the new Airthereal AGH490 or AGH500 soon.

Airthereal AGH380 Design and Size

The Airthereal AGH380 might represent a small jump up in price, but it could be the classiest mid-ranger of the lot. Well, it was for six months, until we can release this review, and I must say the Airthereal AGH380 is worth the money for its design alone. It is a considerable improvement over the generic Airthereal APH260.

Airthereal AGH380 follows the design of its big brother Airthereal AGH550, so we will have a full bottom-to-top air flow system concept that’s the best to combat allergens. Airthereal has smartly done with the smaller footprint for smaller space, especially when the air purifier has a dimension of 9.8 inches in both depth and width, and 20.3 inches in height. It’s even smaller than the Levoit Core 400S by comparison.

Another indicator of the air purifier’s lower price tag is the slim black plastic to use in the body. However, it helps the air purifier way smaller than its brother, as the Airthereal AGH380 weighs only 7.5 lbs, literally half of the AGH550.

The touch control panel on top is much simpler than its flagship brother.

Airthereal AGH380 Filters

Normally, we will check the quality and quantity of the air filters to decide its performance, as well as the air filter types being used. It is reasonable in COVID-19 global pandemic, but the Airthereal AGH380 does that in a compromise of Activated Carbon filter, which was Airthereal selling point once.

Now we just have an all-in-one air filter with a slim layer of non-honeycombed carbon filter instead, and the UV-C light filter is also common one.

Performance on the Airthereal AGH380 is okay, as it can capture 99.92% of all particles down to 0.3 microns in just 1 hour (200 square foot test). It was better than the Vornado AC550 and can destroy the Bissell air220 and TruSens Z-2000 in the same test.

Sadly, at the time of writing, the air filter of Airthereal AGH380 is out of stock. I will update the deal as soon as possible, and I know your worry because the air filter can last only 6 months.

Airthereal AGH380 Room Coverage

Airthereal AGH380 isn’t certified by the AHAM yet, but it is recommended to use in rooms up to 519 square feet by the manufacturer.

The ACH of Airthereal AGH380 is 4X. This is the common air changes per hour rating for air purifier, so it can clean your room every 15 minutes.

The CADR of Airthereal AGH380 is 224 cfm in general, which is decent and near-mid-range level for the price.

Airthereal AGH380 Sound

An air purifier with such power like the Airthereal AGH380 will aim to run on low sound level, and it can trim the sound as low as 22 decibels (db). That’s pretty normal for today air purifier.

With such ultra-quiet operation, the Airthereal AGH380 can run easily on bedroom. Its maximum sound level is measured at 49 decibels, which is lower than other competitors at the same price.

Airthereal AGH380 borrows the laser Smart Sensor from its flagship brother, even when it has lower price tag. This air sensor is more accurate than the common infrared dust sensor from the Airthereal ADH80 and Airthereal APH260. It also delivers the report in air quality monitor for under 10 seconds, both in digital and colored readings.

As with all Airthereal air purifiers, the Airthereal AGH380 features a Sleep Mode, demonstrating its remarkable ability to reduce noise. For the bedroom setting, you can utilize the Timer to arrange time off between one and twenty-four hours.

Another optional feature of the Airthereal AGH380 is a simple child lock, which prevents your children and pets from making unintentional modifications to the settings. Finally, an LED indication indicates when the filter should be replaced.

Our verdict

If you want a good-looking air purifier with decent performance and lower price tag than the Airthereal AGH550, you can consider buying the Airthereal AGH380. Buying an affordable air purifier often means compromising on its appearance and feel, but I like Airthereal AGH380’s look.

For the performance, it is okay. I don’t think I will recommend it over the Levoit Core 400S or Blue Pure 311 Auto, but it is good enough if you’ve already got one.
