TruSens Z-2500 Price

The TruSens Z-2500’s strengths lie in different areas to the rest of the range, but it’s a solid air purifier. Problem is, it is not a powerful air purifier for the price.

Well, when the TruSens Z-2000 made its debut, it is in minority of few air purifiers that can detect a specific spot of air quality in your room. Though the performance is far from perfect, its unique DuPont air filtration system is really a thing. Now, with the upgrade to True HEPA filter, the TruSens Z-2000 is a capable device you can get for your small room.

However, at $379, the TruSens Z-2500 asks for far too much for very little. New integration and connection with smartphone app is a must-have feature in this era of new smart air purifiers, but at a price of a TruSens Z-3000? I must pass this.

Just like the Rabbit Air BioGS 2.0, the TruSens Z-2500 values air filtration technology over strong fan power, but both complete the tasks at a very slow speed. Imagine if you run this air purifier in kitchen, the smell will linger a bit longer.

The TruSens Z-2500 does compete against the Vornado PCO375DC and its bigger brother – Vornado PCO575DC for the price and title. However, though lacking the smartphone connection, both Vornado air purifiers are my go-to air purifier when asking for the best air purifier for viruses.

TruSens Z-2500 Design and Size

The TruSens Z-2500 is far larger than the TruSens Z-1000, at 22 inches tall and 9 inches wide. It retains the iconic design, elegantly fusing hard plastic and metal components throughout. TruSens Z-2500 likewise features a white tone as its primary color.

This air purifier utilizes a significant technology called DirectPure. With multiple air outlet flow streams, the TruSens Z-2500 can increase efficiency without raising fan power. It is significantly more effective, up to 24 percent more effective, at cleaning the air faster and more thoroughly.

TruSens Z-2500 Filters

The TruSens Z-2500 sets a new standard in air filtration system from the previous models, as it upgrades to the new 4-stage air cleaning system, and you can change the default air filter to True HEPA filter. The efficiency will be far better, and you don’t need to change the carbon cloth filter as frequent as before.

1. Pre-filter – TruSens Z-2500 separates the pre-filter from the carbon filter, to make it washable and permanent to use. The pre-filter is the first stage of the air cleaning system, to capture large particles such as dust and pet hair.
2. Activated Carbon filter – Can remove certain gases and odors from the air, as well as many types of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs).
3. HEPA filter – TruSens Z-2500 only uses a HEPA-type air filter, to capture 99% of any allergens down to 0.3 microns. However, now you can use either Odor Filter or Allergy & Flu Filter to get the True HEPA filter.
4. UV-C light filter – Using the UV sterilization, the TruSens can kill 99.8% of hazardous germs and bacteria in the air. It also reduces the growth of odor-causing microbes on the surface of the filter

As with all TruSens air purifiers, the TruSens Z-2500 utilizes DuPont air filter technology. The TruSens Z-2500 uses UV-C light sterilizing in conjunction with a high-quality HEPA filter to catch minuscule particles, allergens, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and odorous gases.

The TruSens Z-2500 is completely safe to use, having been certified by the California Air Resources Board (CARB) for ozone emission safety. It is also allowed to ship to California because it complies with the strictest safety standards.

We test it with the genuine True HEPA filter and the TruSens Z-2500 does much better than the previous test of TruSens Z-2000. In room of 150 square feet, the TruSens Z-2500 can deal with 99.9% of particles down to 0.3 microns easily. It is just a little behind the Vornado PCO375DC and Oransi mod Jr, but it’s far better than the Molekule Air Mini.

We will use the same air filter for this air purifier like its non-smart original version (AFHZ2000-01). The filter costs $39, and you only need to change the filter after 12 to 15 months of use. Also, you can get Pet or Allergy Filter for True HEPA filter, at $69.

TruSens Z-2500 Room Coverage

TruSens Z-2500 is verified by the Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers (AHAM) so its room size suggestion is honest. You should use the device in only 138 square feet, far below the recommendation of 668 square feet made by TruSens.

The ACH of TruSens Z-2500 is 2X to 4X. This air purifier can clean your room up to 4 times per hour.

The CADR of TruSens Z-2500 is 107 Dust/ 89 Smoke/ 116 Pollen (cfm). As I said earlier, this fan power is far behind the competition at $400.

TruSens Z-2500 Sound

Regrettably, the predecessor’s noise level issue has not been resolved in the TruSens Z-2500. As with its smaller sibling, this air purifier can reach up to 64 decibels, which is extremely loud and prevents you from sleeping while it is running.

Fortunately, the new AC motor allows the TruSens Z-2500 to operate in whisper mode at a noise level of only 33 decibels (db). That is practically whisper-quiet, and I wish I could have this option on the compact TruSens Z-1000.

TruSens Z-2500 Power Consumption

One of our most FAQs is “Do air purifiers use a lot of energy?” In fact, air purifier must be used for a long time to be efficient. And power consumption is one important criteria to review if this air purifier is good or not.

It seems TruSens loses all the certification of Energy Star for its air purifiers, and the TruSens Z-2500 isn’t an Energy Star air purifier anymore. However, the rated power of only 28 watts is still impressive.

If you run the TruSens Z-2500 for 8 hours per day, it would cost you only $10 each year, which is even better than the smaller TruSens Z-1000. Really impressive, right?

Track your AQI (Air Quality Index) history, create a schedule, and receive filter and UV bulb replacement reminders directly from your smartphone. The TruSens Wi-Fi-enabled Smart Air Purifier is compatible with Alexa voice controls.

I guess the option to pick True HEPA filter makes the TruSens Z-2500 a solid air purifier even more than its original TruSens Z-2000, however, its price is rocketing to where you can buy the TruSens Z-3000, and that’s really a problem for its sale.
