IQAir Atem X Price
Is it possible that we’ve reached the age of refinement in the large-room air purifier story? IQAir did a miracle for making the base IQAir Atem Desk into a bigger form, and voila, the new IQAir Atem X is ready to deal with large rooms. This latest Atem device brings a number of notable design enhancements over the HealthPro line, plus a new orbital architecture and an upgraded sensor array.
With all IQAir air purifiers receiving major internal upgrades, the new IQAir Atem X is designed to be a slimmer and more capable version of its predecessors. It is better suited as a wall-mounted purifier for large rooms, with a coverage area of up to 1,650 square feet.
However, all IQAir air purifiers are more expensive than what we left 8 years ago, and the newer IQAir Atem X will reflect that with its $1399 price tag. It is even more expensive than the IQAir GC MultiGas in the past. For a slim air purifier with no carbon filter, it makes the IQAir Atem X not as good as the signature IQAir HealthPro Plus. Or is it?
At this price range, if you’re considering the IQAir Atem X, you should also look at the Airpura UV700 or Airpura V700, which offer stronger airflow and a more robust filtration system, though they lack smart features of the Atem X. You should also consider the new Austin Air Immunity Machine, which has one of the best carbon filtration systems available but does not include smart features either.
Perhaps the most innovative air purifier competing with the IQAir Atem X at the moment is the LG PuriCare AS560DWR0. It offers even better smart features, with compatibility with the LG ThinQ system, but it doesn’t have the same level of airflow performance as the IQAir Atem X.

IQAir Atem X Design and Size
At this point, IQAir clearly believes it has a compelling foundational concept in its orbital wheel architecture from the first IQAir Atem, and that’s why the IQAir Atem X isn’t radically different in filtration approach from the IQAir HealthPro Plus.
That said, there are actually lots of bold build and design differences, some of which you can plainly see while others are hidden within the wheel structure. At rest, the IQAir Atem X is 25.2 inches across at its circular diameter. But the profile of the product is remarkably slim – just 10 inches deep – so that from certain angles the unit is nearly invisible against a wall.
Still, a 25-inch air purifier is nearly as big as the IQAir HealthPro Compact, and you can say it is comparable to a large tower-style competitor. It makes more sense because the IQAir Atem X targets large rooms and thus, it needs a very big fan. That’s why the IQAir Atem X is even heavier than the HealthPro Compact, at 28.7 lbs.
The unique design of the IQAir Atem X makes its 360° airflow system concept a bit special, thanks to its Air Rotation Technology. Think of the circle with four quadrants, and the IQAir Atem X draws air from 3 quadrants, and release fresh air on the top quadrant outlet.
We have a detachable wheel base for easier movement, and we really love this design of the IQAir Atem X. It is beautiful, convenient, and practical.

IQAir Atem X Filters
IQAir is the market leader in making the signature HyperHEPA filter for its air purifiers, and the IQAir Atem X runs a 2-stage air cleaning system to feature its power.
- Impactor pre-filter – It is made with 195 blades, so the pre-filter is washable and permanent. It prevents clogging of the primary filters by trapping large particles of pollutants like dust, hair and fibers.
- HyperHEPA filter – The #1 True HEPA filter which can filter out both fine and ultra-fine particles, including bacteria, viruses and combustion particles, with efficiency >99.5% of all ultra-fine particles (<0.1 microns).
To make the IQAir Atem X as slim as you can see, IQAir decides to sacrifice a layer of filtration, and they choose the Activated Carbon filter. Instead, they make the Impactor pre-filters permanent and as thin as possible to save space for the main HyperHEPA filter.
The main reason we buy an IQAir air purifier is because of its HyperHEPA filter: the non-woven glass microfiber, non-offgasing separators True HEPA filter that is specifically tested and certified at 0.003 microns – 100 times smaller than the standard HEPA test size. It is tested under more demanding benchmark, and the result is far exceptional.
So, in the end, we can trust the high quality of the IQAir Atem X’s HEPA filter, but how does it perform in real-world tests? The IQAir Atem X is under the most difficult test in Breathe Quality, to comply the new air purifier ranking list v3.0, in 800 sq ft, for 1 hour. It seems for such a big space, the IQAir Atem X can trap only 98.79% of all particles as small as 0.3 microns, but the result is even better than the Airpura P700 that costs higher. The result is also better than its brother – the IQAir GC MultiGas XE.

IQAir Atem X Room Coverage
The IQAir Atem X is the latest in the IQAir lineup, and it appears the brand has submitted it for AHAM verification, but the report has not been released yet. IQAir claimed the Atem X has a room coverage up to 1650 sq ft, but you should trust in AHAM suggested room coverage of 572 sq ft instead.
The ACH of the IQAir Atem X is 5X. In AHAM room coverage, the air purifier can exchange air every 12 minutes.
The CADR of the IQAir Atem X is 382 Dust/ 369 Smoke/ 423 Pollen (cfm). Using the Germany fan motor, the IQAir Atem X delivers the strongest airflow in all IQAir lineup.

IQAir Atem X Sound
With 8 fan speeds, the IQAir Atem X is truly the most modern air purifier to date from this leading air purifier brand. The patented BionicCore can keep strong air outputs at quiet operation, so even though you’re buying the most powerful IQAir purifier, you get the quietest result.
On lowest speed, the noise level of the IQAir Atem X is only 15 decibels (dB). The IQAir Atem X is certainly the best thing IQAir can deliver, with high raw performance (though without gas and odor control), exceptional motor engineering and quiet operation. However, all of the modern innovation costs a bit higher, yes, even higher than the one grand IQAir HealthPro Plus.
