To be fair, the Holmes HAP412BNS-NU and Holmes HAP412N-U prices are crazily low, as both these air purifiers are only $49. To have the True HEPA filter, you should choose the Holmes HAP706-NU instead. If you are in Canada, you can also select the Bionaire BAP1412-U instead, to have the espresso color option, as well as the stylish perforated air vents.

Holmes HAP412BNS-NU Design and Size

Before the appearance of Holmes HAP9422-NUA and Holmes HAP9424B-NU, the Holmes HAP412BNS-NU is the tower air purifier type of this company. However, it is only 16 inches in height, which is just taller than a typical compact tower device like Levoit Vista 200.

There is no bullet-shape design like the bigger brother, Holmes HAP412BNS-NU only comes with a solid build of the classic neat all-in-one kit, and somehow I have felt a strong resemblance as the device of Honeywell – the Honeywell HPA060. Yes, it is definitely the same big air grill on front, but the Holmes HAP412BNS-NU will use the old back-to-front air flow system concept, while the representative from Honeywell will choose the better bottom-to-top concept.

I have found one minus from this air purifier, the air filters do not totally fill the space inside, and there is a chance that polluted air can escape the air filtration system. This is a normal defect from the cheap air purifiers, and Holmes HAP412BNS-NU is not an exception.

On top of this device, there is two switches to change the fan speeds and turn on/off the ionizer function.

Holmes HAP412N-U weighs only 7 lbs, and this is a very small air purifier to pick up.

Holmes HAP412BNS-NU Filters

To decide the performance of one air purifier, you will need to know about the quantity and quality of its air filters, as well as the air filter types are used. The Holmes HAP412BNS-NU has the 2-stage air cleaning system as below.

At the moment, you can buy the True HEPA filter for the Holmes HAP412BNS-NU (HAPF300APD), with the cost of $44. However, at the time of writing, there is a great sales for the Holmes True HEPA air filter, and you can grab it below. With the True HEPA filter, the efficiency of Holmes HAP412BNS-NU increased from 90% to exactly 99%, which is nearly 10% in difference.

As the compact version of the Holmes HAP9422-NUA, the Holmes HAP412BNS-NU is promised to operate quietly, and it seems finally we have one silent Holmes air purifier. The sound on lowest speed is fairly low, as it is about only 40 decibels (db). It is probably white noise, though I can’t check exactly the frequency of the sound.

But again, the problem with the noise is still available in this Holmes HAP412BNS-NU. If you want to sleep in silent, you should turn the fan speed to low setting.

Holmes HAP412BNS-NU Power Consumption
