LG PuriCare AeroTower Price

The LG PuriCare AeroTower is the sort of silhouette we saw on some of the Dyson air purifiers, for example the Dyson Pure Cool Tower. Similar to the Dyson, the LG PuriCare AeroTower can give you more airflow for a single room – though in the AeroTower’s case, with filtration on one side and cooling on the other – or you can run it purely as an air purifier in Natural Wind mode, letting you clean the air without a stiff breeze while you sleep, say.

The base model U10CS1C of the LG PuriCare AeroTower costs around $449. If you want the heating feature, you must up $50 more for the U10CS1H, at $499. We will share you the deal of the model U10CS1H of the LG PuriCare AeroTower right below.

At this price point, the LG PuriCare AeroTower stays between the portable LG PuriCare AS401VSA0 and the LG PuriCare AS330DWR0. It’s LG, it’s expensive for the performance, but at least we know that 3-in-1 devices like the AeroTower can’t be cheap. Yes, you can find the Blueair ComfortPure T20i at this price range with better performance, and the Blueair ComfortPure T10i at cheaper price, but that’s it. For a product like the Dyson HP1, the cost can be at least twice as high as that of the LG PuriCare AeroTower.

LG PuriCare AeroTower Design and Size

At rest, the LG PuriCare AeroTower looks and operates just like any slim tower fan, and although it’s a little taller and heavier than most others at 44.1 inches and 21.4 lbs, it’s still closer in footprint to a bladeless fan than a bulky console purifier like the Coway Airmega Icon. You could use it as a perfectly functional standalone fan, if you really wanted to.

So what did I mean for a slim tower fan? At first glance, it’s the cylindrical body, perforated grille, touch controls on top, power cord out the bottom, and so on. The LG PuriCare AeroTower is a dense unit, heavier than the LG PuriCare AS330DWR0 in a side-by-side comparison.

Its height is perfect for manual control on top, which is something you don’t want to do with, said a Dyson HP2. For color option, the LG PuriCare AeroTower said to have the beige white color in the U10CS1C, and more brown in the U10CS1H.

Overall, it’s LG design. It’s beautiful, slim, and streamlined that complements both modern and traditional decor. It’s the style that you want from the famous South Korean brand.

LG PuriCare AeroTower Filters

LG stays on true mechanical filtration only, and the LG PuriCare AeroTower has the simple 3-stage air cleaning system as below.

1. Pre-filter – A removable mesh pre-filter helps capture large particles before they contact the HEPA filter.
2. True HEPA filter – The main HEPA filter captures 99.97% of down to 0.3 microns allergens, virus particles, pollen, mold and fungi particles.
3. Activated Carbon filter – The deodorization filter catches odors, smoke and Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) like formaldehyde.

The primary NanoFiber True HEPA layer captures an average of 99.97% of airborne particles as small as 0.3 microns. This is LG’s latest in-house developed HEPA filter, designed to deliver improved filtration performance.

However, because the LG PuriCare AeroTower is a 3-in-1 appliance, its air purification performance isn’t as strong as that of a dedicated standalone air purifier under the same conditions. You can see how it works in the standard test for a $400 air purifier, and you will find the LG PuriCare AeroTower quite insufficient for trapping only 82.29% of all particles down to 0.3 microns.

As usual, the filter of the LG PuriCare AeroTower can last 1 year, and the filter cost is around $99. It is quite decent at this price range.

LG PuriCare AeroTower Room Coverage

It seems LG has opted out of the usual Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers verification process. Instead, the company relies on performance figures from its own laboratories in South Korea, much like what Coway did. LG suggests to use this LG PuriCare AeroTower for rooms up to 744 sq ft at 1 ACH, and 155 sq ft at usual 4.8 ACH (standards of the AHAM).

The ACH of the LG PuriCare AS560DWR0 is 4X. At maximum power, the air purifier can clean the air every 15 minutes.

The CADR of the LG PuriCare AS560DWR0 is 94-106 cfm in general. It is far behind the LG PuriCare AS330DWR0, and even the more expensive LG air purifier has low performance for the price.

LG PuriCare AeroTower Sound

As usual, there are two reasons LG keeps the LG PuriCare AeroTower’s fan speed relatively low. First, it’s a 3-in-1 appliance by design, and the airflow has to pass through a thick HEPA filter, which naturally reduces the final airflow (CFM). Second, the lower fan speed helps keep noise levels down. As a result, the LG PuriCare AeroTower operates at just 23 decibels (dB) on its lowest setting, making it pleasantly quiet.

On the highest speed, the noise level is okay at 52 dB, which is comparable to light rainfall.

LG PuriCare AeroTower Power Consumption

One of our most FAQs is “Do air purifiers use a lot of energy?” In fact, air purifier must be used for a long time to be efficient. And power consumption is one important criteria to review how much energy this air purifier will consume.

The LG PuriCare AeroTower doesn’t have an Energy Star rating, which is quite normal for LG from now on. The rated power for both the U10CS1C and U10CS1H models is 50 watts, and because the U10CS1H model has heating mode, its power consumption can be 1,500 watts.

LG PuriCare AeroTower Additional Features

Using the LG PuriCare AeroTower effectively boils down to knowing which airflow mode suits the moment. You won’t need Wide mode all the time, as Natural Wind works just fine for regular background purification, especially overnight. Yes, you can run Wide mode continuously, but it’s a little more noticeable.

As you might have guessed, it is the fan feature of the LG PuriCare AeroTower. Wide mode means it spreads the airflow across a broader arc, while Natura Wind mode can vary its fan speed to mimic the irregular, gusty feel of an actual outdoor breeze.

You can control the air purifier with both the remote control and the ThinQ app from your smartphone. It is simple, and by using the app, you can adjust the setting from anywhere.

LG uses the PM 1.0 sensor for the LG PuriCare AeroTower, so it can detect the finest pollutant particles. As usual, the Smart Sensor will activate the Auto mode, to automatically adjust the fan speed based on the current AQI.
