If you add in the Pet or the Heavy Odor air filter, along with any customized color will cost you $69 more.

Alen BreatheSmart 75i Design and Size

It would be too easy to say the Alen BreatheSmart 75i is just a metal copy of the BreatheSmart Classic, but it’s very, very close. There are a few slight changes that make… a little difference though, starting with the size of this air purifier. It is a little bit bigger, with a height of 27 inches, compared with the 26.7 inches in the previous BreatheSmart air purifier.

The metal used in the construction of the device is also more robust, so if you choose the colored version, you may find your Alen BreatheSmart 75i just luxurious. With the variants of 14 color options, the Alen BreatheSmart 75i is nothing short of beautiful, with an attractive colorful sheen when the air purifier catches the light.

And, thankfully, the air flow system remains the same as the BreatheSmart Classic, which is bottom-to-top with a big air filter behind the front panel. Though the air flow is not as good as the 360 Degree air intake in other high-end devices, it will support the Alen BreatheSmart 75i to maximize the efficiency of the fan power.

But overall it’s a very similar design to last year, and only looking on top of the Alen BreatheSmart 75i and BreatheSmart Classic will reveal the main difference. The outlet air grill looks different, and we have a modern control panel with the exact logo of the Alen BreatheSmart 75i, rather than just only the word “BreatheSmart”.

The Alen BreatheSmart 75i is also the heaviest in the line of Alen’s devices. It weighs no less than 27 lbs. But in the world of the high-end bulky air purifiers, we must accept the giant machines which hold the big fan to suck in more air. The top examples could be both the Blueair Classic 605 and IQAir HealthPro Plus with 35 lbs in weight. With an useful handle as usual, you will find no trouble in moving the Alen BreatheSmart 75i around your home.

Alen BreatheSmart 75i Filters

As the decisive criteria for the performance of one air purifier, by default we look at the quantity and the quality of its air filters, and what the air filter types are using. The Alen BreatheSmart 75i commits with the typical Alen’s 3-stage air cleaning system. However, we are having a real True HEPA air purifier, with variants of 3 available selections as below.

3. Ionizer – To improve the performance of the Alen BreatheSmart 75i.

It seems the air filtration system of the Alen BreatheSmart works the best against all types of allergens. As a result, Alen doesn’t change much from the formula of success for this brand, starting with a mesh pre-filter to capture large particles and extend the life of the True HEPA filter. The Alen BreatheSmart 75i uses a new plastic filter frames with detachable pre-filter for easy cleaning.

You still have a normal ionizer to improve the efficiency of the air filtration system. Ionizer works due to the electrical effects of positive and negative charges, which are attracted to each other. When the ionizer feature is turned on, voltage is applied to a series of built-in needles, creating electrons which are discharged into the air. When these electrons attach to air molecules, negatively-charged ions are formed.

As the result, the allergens can more easily be trapped by your Alen BreatheSmart 75i’s True HEPA filter. Even the smallest bacteria like E. Coli and Staph Bacteria will be completely removed through this process. Alen also adds an antimicrobial compound to the True HEPA, protecting the filter from harmful bacteria and microbe growth.

According to the marketing materials, the True HEPA filter from the Alen BreatheSmart 75i can outrun even the Rabbit Air MinusA2 or Blue Pure 121. But in Breathe Quality, we don’t believe in the pure marketing advertisement. We did multiple tests for both the old-gen 75i and the current version 2.0. Even in the new standards of our air purifier ranking list v3.0, the new Alen BreatheSmart 75i did a good job at capturing 99.47% of all particles down to 0.3 microns, after 1 hour.

There is no need in telling that the Alen BreatheSmart 75i is the best air purifier of this company. But the cost of the True HEPA air filter is increased, too. For the standard Pure filter (the B7-Pure), the cost is $99. You need to pay for $129 for the Fresh air filter.

Alen BreatheSmart 75i Room Coverage

Look at the tradition of Alen, I believe in the room coverage of the Alen BreatheSmart 75i to match any high-end flagship power. With 1300 square feet, the Alen BreatheSmart 75i has the largest room coverage device from the brand. Even on the lowest speed, this air purifier can clean a room of 350 square feet with ease.

The ACH of the Alen BreatheSmart 75i is 5X. For a room of 1300 square feet, this air purifier only clean twice an hour. However, if your room is much smaller than 1300 square feet, you will enjoy the new fresh air every 12 minutes.

The CADR of the Alen BreatheSmart 75i is 351 Dust/ 370 Smoke/ 432 Pollen (cfm). I must admit that the Alen BreatheSmart 75i has a good fan power, but it is still quite insufficient for the actual room coverage of 1300 square feet.

Alen BreatheSmart 75i Sound

One reason Alen gave to public for not having True HEPA filter is because they don’t want the True HEPA filter restricts airflow. It is quite reasonable, and with less restriction in the air flow, you don’t need a powerful fan to cover a large space. But in the case of the Alen BreatheSmart 75i, it seems they deny everything they said before.

Why I could say this? The Alen BreatheSmart 75i is extremely quiet despite of its True HEPA core. The noise level at the lowest setting is only 25 decibels, which is similar to the Rabbit Air MinusA2. It is a high compliment, as the MinusA2 is now the most silent air purifier to run in the world. To help you understand how quiet it is, it is just the same noise level of the quiet rural in night time.

Even at the highest setting, the noise level is just only 49 decibels (dB), which is a lot better than any previous devices of this company. It is even quieter than the normal conversation at home, and I bet you won’t find this noise level affect you much. And don’t forget the wonderful pink noise frequency of this Alen BreatheSmart 75i. If you’ve ever had difficulty falling asleep, someone may have suggested the concept of pink noise to you. Pink noise consists of varying frequencies, but the volume decreases whenever the frequency doubles. As a result, it will help you sleep faster, or increase the productivity and creativity at work.
