TCL isn’t a big name in the air purifier market right now, and it’s mostly quite late in other electronics race. You’re much more likely to know it from its TVs or sound bars. It’s slowly making moves into the air purifier market though, with 3 consecutive devices right after the successful launch of the TCL Breeva A1. So, let’s hop into our TCL Breeva A2 Review, to see how the next-level device keeps up with the competition.
TCL Breeva A2 Price
The TCL Breeva A2 is cheap and cheerful-ish, that’s what the users can expect from a next-level device from the TCL Breeva A1. In short, the new TCL Breeva A2 is a start of a series of new TCL air purifiers coming last year, with new and unique design to mark the TCL name in the market.
And that’s for a device, the TCL Breeva A2 quite lacks speed and performance in many ways, but it looks nice and it has a ton of smart features, so it’s good enough if you’re on a tight budget.
The TCL Breeva A2 will be the cheapest of the latest air purifiers we could get from TCL, the others being TCL Breeva A3 and Breeva A5. To be fair though, it’s also a very cheap air purifier for what it offers. Available for only $119 and already enjoying chunky discounts, the TCL Breeva A2 is certainly not going to break the bank, and if you’re looking for a cheap air purifier with all high-end smart features experience.
Of course, it isn’t the only device to offer such generosity at its price anymore. The Levoit Core 300S keeps up right at the moment I’ve got the TCL Breeva A2, and the former is still our selection for the best air purifier. You can sometimes find the Winix AM90 at TCL’s price point, and if you’re lucky to get such deal, this is also another option.

TCL Breeva A2 Design and Size
The TCL Breeva A2 is the second air purifier that TCL makes to compete in air purifier market, and it is forming the much more budget end of things alongside the relatively “better” TCL Breeva A5. The TCL Breeva A3 will be the middling.
We get the new, stylish and gorgeous design for a new series. The TCL Breeva A2 is a reasonably good-looking air purifier too, at least when it’s not covered in dust. If you find the black color option is more dust magnet, the white option will be the more “incognito” one.
Its design also differentiate the TCL Breeva A2 from the rest of other Chi-fi air purifiers which are tried to mimic the Levoit Core 300. It is still the same bottom-to-top air flow system concept with a 360° air inlet system, but the bigger head of the TCL Breeva A2 is truly one of the kind. I feel it could easily separate the inlet and outlet, which is sometimes mixed in other air purifiers.
However, you can get such design in only the TCL Breeva A2. For a device with 13.7 inches in height, the TCL Breeva A2 is way more bigger than the previous TCL Breeva A1. While I accept that the TCL Breeva A2 is an attractive air purifier, the larger head is somewhat inconvenient when placed on a tabletop. I like this design for a device with a taller size, such as the Breeva A5.
With a 10.3-inch-diameter footprint, the TCL Breeva A2 is not the most compact air purifier for tiny areas. It is, nevertheless, extremely light at 6.4 lbs. It is effortlessly portable from room to room.
TCL Breeva A2 will remove the Nightlight function from the predecessor to keep its portability. It also features a new top control panel for convenience.

TCL Breeva A2 Filters
To decide the performance of one air purifier, normally we check the quantity and quality of the air filters, as well as the air filter types. The TCL Breeva A2 features a new 4-stage air cleaning system, in only one set of filter.
- Pre-filter – The fine preliminary filter traps large particles and floating matters like large dust, plant fibers, pollen.
- True HEPA filter – The H13 HEPA filter can capture 99.97% of any particles down to 0.3 microns, like fine dust, pet dander and other PM 2.5 particles.
- Activated Carbon filter – Traps smoke, odors and Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs).
- Ionizer – Negative ions settles other fine particles that escape previous filtration.
TCL Breeva A2 introduces an improvement in its traditional air filtration system with the addition of ionizer. Together with H13 True HEPA filter, the air purifier is certified by the Association of Home Appliance for its great performance. TCL Breeva A2 is also certified by the California Air Resources Board (CARB) to meet ozone safety standard.
Performance of the TCL Breeva A2, however, is strictly limited by its low fan power. In our common test of 150 square feet, the TCL Breeva A2 can only clean 99.2% of all particles down to 0.3 microns after 1 hour, so it was a little behind the Levoit Core 300S and AeraMax 200 in our test. However, it is better than another smart competition GermGuardian CDAP5500BCA.
I’m glad that TCL doesn’t put any marketing gimmick in the simple air filtration anymore. The Breeva A2F filter replacement is simple and straight, though it’s a bit more expensive at $39. It is recommended for 3 months, further increasing the annual maintenance fee.

TCL Breeva A2 Room Coverage
TCL Breeva A2 is a bedroom-centric air purifier verified by the Association of Home Appliance (AHAM) to use in 183 square feet. There is a classic (no Wi-Fi) model of the TCL Breeva A2 with a slightly better fan power in test.
The ACH of TCL Breeva A2 is 4X. With this air changes per hour rating, the air purifier can clean your room every 15 minutes.

TCL Breeva A2 Sound
The TCL Breeva A2 operates quietly, exactly like any other air purifier on the market today. It measures 26 decibels (db) at its lowest speed, which is slightly louder than other devices of comparable size. However, you will find the sound rather soothing for sleeping. It’s time to rest peacefully and breathe freely.
The noise level can reach 51 dB when traveling at top speed. To be sure, it’s still lower than many other air purifiers on the market, and I suggest the TCL Breeva A2 for usage in the bedroom.

TCL Breeva A2 Power Consumption
One of our most FAQs is “Do air purifiers use a lot of energy?” In fact, air purifier must be used for a long time to be efficient. And power consumption is one important criteria to review if this air purifier is good or not.
TCL Breeva A2 is an Energy Star rated air purifier, meaning the device has an incredible performance per power. Its rated power is measured at 23 watts, with standby power is only 0.7 watts. It could be one of the best air purifiers for power consumption in the market at the moment.
If you run the TCL Breeva A2 for at least 8 hours per day, you only pay $8 each year. Sweet!

TCL Breeva A2 Additional Features
If you only want to use a traditional air purifier, TCL offers the classic model of the device at lower price.
However, the real reason you’re looking for this TCL Breeva A2 is its bunch of smart features, starting with the necessary Smart Sensor. Though using only infrared air sensor, the TCL Breeva A2 has both dust and odor air sensor for advanced air quality detection. The TCL Auto Shield will trigger and automatically measures the air quality in your home and adjusts the fan speed to keep your indoor air quality clean.
TCL Breeva A2 can be compared to the Levoit Core 300S with its Smart control. Connect your Breeva A2 to an Alexa or Google Assistant device to operate your air purifier with only your voice. The intuitive software enables you to control your air purifier from any location, using only your smartphone. Check the air purifier’s status, see historical data on air quality, and adjust fan speeds are also available.
Moreover, the TCL Breeva A2 serves as a humidifier, with humidifying capacity of approximately 1 fl-oz per hour.
Finally, we have a “child lock” feature so that your kids can’t accidentally change the setting. There is also a LED that tells you when it’s time to change the filter.
TCL Breeva A2 Customer Service
TCL is a big corporation with great support for their products. If you have any trouble with their air purifiers, you can contact them easily at 1-800-825-6747 via phone, or email them at: support.tcl.com/contact-us.
At the moment, however, the TCL Breeva A1 isn’t registered to be an official TCL product in the U.S market, so perhaps TCL won’t support you. Remember that our below deal is only from a seller.
It’s quite difficult to recommend the TCL Breeva A2 when the Levoit Core 300S offers better “everything” at the same price. However, if you could find the TCL Breeva A2 at lower price (for example by checking our deal), it is a good option to consider.
It is also connected to TCL smartphone app, so it could be a plus for any heavy TCL users.
