The Filtrete FAP-01RS is a very old origin of the Energy Star Filtrete FAP-C01-A. It’s no longer official on Filtrete website anymore, but it’s still available for anyone who wants a decent budget air purifier. Today, we are going to have a Filtrete FAP-01RS Review.

Updated: If you want an air purifier for larger room coverage, you should look for the Filtrete FAP-C02WA-G2, Filtrete FAP-C03BA-G2 or Filtrete FAP-T03BA-G2. Overall, the price point of under $100 for an air purifier with exclusive air filtration system can’t be beaten, and despite a few niggles it still performs very well.

Filtrete might have been late to the air purifier game, but they’re making up for lost time now by following up the successful Filtrete FAP-01RS with the new Filtrete FAP-C01-A and Filtrete FAP-C01-F1. Though the Filtrete FAP-01RS is removed from the official Filtrete store, it is still a decent budget air purifier to get.

At the moment, Filtrete doesn’t officially announce the price of their air purifier online. You should check our deal to see the actual price of the Filtrete FAP-01RS, which isn’t fixed.

As a budget air purifier, the Filtrete FAP-01RS is a good air purifier to get, but only if you don’t like the concept of Levoit Vista 200, RENPHO RP-AP088 or GermGuardian AC4825. Otherwise, I recommend you to get these air purifiers for a much better support. If you really want a Filtrete air purifier model, look for the FAP-C01-A model.

Filtrete FAP-01RS Design and Size

The Filtrete FAP-01RS is one of the first air purifier models made by this U.S company, so it has a very different design that you can’t find in current products. It should be pointed out that this is Filtrete’s budget offering, and therefore some compromises will have been made to shrink the cost of the down.

The Filtrete FAP-01RS feels nice, although a little plasticky. However, that’s offset by a decent size, measuring 18 inches in height and 14 inches in width. It gives us a feeling of a solid built air purifier, with strong base. It seems there is only one white color option for this air purifier, and I must say this is the best color option for a plastic air purifier device.

It has a simple bottom-to-top air flow system concept, and you can change the filter from the front of the device.

This air purifier is light enough at only 10.7 lbs. You can lift and move it anywhere in your home.

Filtrete FAP-01RS Filters

The Filtrete FAP-01RS has a similar air filter like the Blue Pure 411. However, there is only 1 stage for the air filtration system.

1. Electrostatic HEPA filter – A HEPA filter has electrostatically charged fibers, that is able to capture 99.9% of airborne particles down to 0.1 microns.

The air filter of Filtrete FAP-01RS is told to capture even the particles as small as 0.1 microns, but it doesn’t state the efficiency. Actually, as an only MERV-8 air filter, the Filtrete FAP-01RS isn’t as efficient as other True HEPA air purifiers like Levoit Vista 200 or Vornado QUBE50.

Also, the filter is most effective in new condition. As particles build up on the filter, they begin to cover up the charged fibers, and reduce the overall effectiveness.

The filter (model FAP-F01) of the Filtrete FAP-01RS is now unavailable. I don’t recommend to use any alternatives of the genuine air filter, because it doesn’t deliver the expected efficiency.

The Filtrete FAP-01RS is titled the quietest air purifier possible. It could be the very old title, but overall its fan speed is just like the whisper, and you won’t notice any sound while it’s operating.

Filtrete FAP-01RS Power Consumption

One of our most FAQs is “Do air purifiers use a lot of energy?” In fact, air purifier must be used for a long time to be efficient. And power consumption is one important criteria to review if this air purifier is good or not.

Filtrete doesn’t state anything about the power consumption of this air purifier. However, it isn’t rated as an Energy Star air purifier like its brother, and I recommend you to look for the Filtrete FAP-C02WA-G2.

Our verdict

The Filtrete FAP-01RS is unavailable at the moment, and I highly recommend you to check the Filtrete FAP-C02WA-G2 instead. This air purifier is verified by both the Energy Star and AHAM, and it can serve a large room up to 170 square feet, with True HEPA filter efficiency. All of these benefits come with a promising price.
