Other Austin Air’s Air Purifier Reviews:
Austin Air Immunity Machine Price
The Austin Air HealthMate Plus and Austin Air Bedroom Machine have been on the market for a long time, and Austin Air still want to improve further. This Austin Air Immunity Machine is exactly the next step. Its codename is HM444, and it is certainly a deliberate choice to signal the “four-part” granular media concept from the newest air purifier.
Austin Air have adjusted the price recently, and most of their lineup have a different price tags from what we wrote 8 years ago. At the newer price, the Austin Air Immunity Machine even costs higher than its predecessors, comes at $1145. It is a step up from the newer price of the Bedroom Machine.
At this price, the Austin Air Immunity Machine is similar to the Airpura V700 – which is the targeted competitor of the Austin Air. The Austin Air is easier to buy, and it is more affordable than both the Airpura C700 and Airpura T700 that don’t have a proper True HEPA filter.
One more thing, the Austin Air Immunity Machine is $400 less than the IQAir GC MultiGas, and only similar to the duo IQAir HealthPro Plus and IQAir HealthPro Compact that don’t offer any more protection against chemicals, gases and smoke.

Austin Air Immunity Machine Design and Size
It is common for high-end air purifier brands to stick with the same design. While it may not improve the manufacturing process, it does strengthen brand recognition. As a result, the Austin Air Immunity Machine looks very similar to the original Austin Air HealthMate.
It features the same steel housing, the same color options, and the same powder-coated paint finish. It also has the same size and weight, as the Austin Air Immunity Machine stands 23 inches tall and 15 inches wide. Fortunately, it includes four casters to support its 47-lb weight.
This is the design that inspired Airpura to follow with its “700” series, as both share the same dimensions, with the main difference being the shape. The Austin Air Immunity Machine has a felt gasket to seal the filter chamber, which improves the fan power.
Again, like any other machines of this company, the Austin Air Immunity Machine is CSA (Canadian Standards Association) approved – the highest certification for any electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and gas products that meet the strict requirement to be safety.
Finally, as you can guess, the Austin Air Immunity Machine features a 360° airflow system concept – which is highly effective for an air purifier with such high fan power.

Austin Air Immunity Machine Filters
When evaluating an air purifier’s performance, we typically look at the number of filters and the types of filters it uses. The Austin Air Immunity Machine features the most complex filtration system from the brand, running a 5-stage air cleaning system.
- Pre-filter – During the first stage, the Austin Air Immunity Machine will capture any large objects of airborne pollutants which can be seen by the naked eye, such as large dust, pet hair, fur and even some pet dander particles.
- Medium Particle Pre-filter – Just like the Rabbit Air A3, the Austin Air Immunity Machine makes use of a double pre-filtration, and can remove small to medium size particles like dust, pollen and mold spores in this stage.
- Activated Carbon filter – 15 lbs of KI-impregnated carbon + zeolite + impregnated zeolite mixture can help remove is far more effective against different types of chemicals, gases and smoke.
- True HEPA filter – The signature 60-sq-ft Medical-grade True HEPA filter of Austin Air Immunity Machine can remove 99.97% of all particles larger than 0.3 microns, and even 95% of all particles larger than 0.1 microns.
- HEGA filter – It is composed of a carbon cloth and is more efficient than a normal Activated Carbon filter at adsorption of gaseous pollutants, chemicals, and odors.
In short, the Austin Air Immunity Machine is the upgraded Austin Air Bedroom Machine, in a way it uses potassium iodide carbon instead of normal activated carbon. The impregnated carbon has better results against formaldehyde, benzene and aggressive VOCs. It can also destroy them instead of just adsorb them like normal carbon.
Zeolite is a naturally occurring or synthetic aluminosilicate mineral with a rigid, crystalline three-dimensional pore structure. It is used to target formaldehyde, ammonia, hydrogen sulfide, and some VOCs that are not effectively removed by carbon filters alone. For example, without the combination of zeolite and impregnated zeolite, the KI-impregnated carbon filter is very weak against NO₂ and ammonia (NH₃). Carbon filter isn’t as effective against H₂S and SO₂, either, and zeolite is quite decent at dealing with it.
In short, the Austin Air Immunity Machine is dedicated at dealing with wider range of chemicals and VOCs than any of its competitors. Yes, it is better than both the Airpura V700 and Airpura C700. And the Medical-grade (aka H13) True HEPA filter of the Austin Air Immunity Machine is still as good as ever. As you can see, even in the most difficult test, the Austin Air Immunity Machine can deal with 99.92% of all particles as small as 0.3 microns.

The FR444 filter for the Austin Air Immunity Machine is the most expensive in the lineup. At $695, it costs about twice as much as the original Austin Air HealthMate filter. Still, you only need to replace the air filter after 5 years, reducing the annual filter cost by a lot.

Austin Air Immunity Machine Sound
Just like the Austin Air Bedroom Machine, the Austin Air Immunity Machine is specially made for bedroom, but its noise level is still the same. Perhaps the Permanent-Split Capacitor motor isn’t enough to keep the noise level on highest fan speed to be acceptable. At 67 decibels (dB), it’s not easy to sleep.
So the manufacturer recommend to only use it on low speed when you need sleeping. It is a bit better at 50 dB, but it is still quite high for a residential air purifier. Perhaps the Austin Air it is the only Austin Air purifier suitable for bedrooms.

Austin Air Immunity Machine Power Consumption
In Breathe Quality, one of our most FAQs is “Do air purifiers use a lot of energy?”. In fact, an air purifier needs to run for a long time (usually more than 8 hours) to be efficient, and therefore, power consumption is an important criteria to consider when deciding which air purifier to buy.
The Austin Air Immunity Machine has a power wattage ranging from 56 watts to 135 watts. Thanks to the Permanent-Split Capacitor (PSC) motor, all Austin Air purifiers can keep decent power consumption for its high fan speed.
Running the Austin Air Bedroom Machine for 8 hours per day will cost about $20 to $50 per year. Even if you run it at the highest speed all the time, it would only cost around $0.10 per day.

Austin Air Immunity Machine Additional Features
The Austin Air family is the first and foundation of the air purifier industry in North America. The company chose to constantly improve the high quality of the air filter over adding any kinds of additional features. It is also the trend of any high-end air purifier that aims at high-quality purification, not flashy features.
There won’t be even the filter replacement indicator or the timer. There is only one manual knob to change the fan speed of this machine.
There is only the LG PuriCare AS560DWR0 at this high-range segment to do a proper all-round performance. Both the IQAir HealthPro Plus and IQAir GC MultiGas are improved with better features these recent years, but not the Austin Air Immunity Machine.
